Despite the original Dinobot betraying Megatron, and even sacrificing his own life in an attempt to stop Megatron's most ambitious plan to destroy the Maximals, Megatron still had an interest in Dinobot and his abilities as a warrior. Using a blank protoform, half of an indestructible spark and cloned cells of Dinobot, in conjunction with an alien transmetal driver, Megatron sought to create not just a clone of the original Dinobot, but an upgraded Transmetal 2 Dinobot that was loyal to only to Megatron himself.
Dinobot II holds no notions of the warrior's code such as honor - traits that defined his predecessor. Instead, he has been created by Megatron to be a deadly hunter with the sole purpose of destroying Maximals. While he has only limited projectile weaponry in the form of a single eye laser, Dinobot II prefers the use of his razor talons to slice down his prey. Combine this with his terrifying alternate form of a cybernetic raptor, and his killer instinct, no Maximal would dare enter in to combat against this formidable monstrosity.
