Additional Information Akuma is the brother of Gouken, both of them trained under Goutetsu. Gouken left their master, as Gouken wished to create a non-lethal form of ansatsuken, yet Akuma continued to train under Goutetsu and master ansatsuken in it's original deadly form. However, Akuma was also intrigued by the Shun Goku Satsu, a technique that can instantly kill its opponent, but also risked killing its user. He realised that in order to be able to utlise the Shun Goku Satsu, he had to first master the Satsui no Hadou (the Murderous Intent) - he had to throw away everything, and hold nothing except the thirst for strength. Once Akuma was able to tap in to the Satsui no Hadou, he left Goutetsu and trained on his own for a period of time to master the Shun Goku Satsu.
Upon mastering the Shun Goku Satsu, Akuma returned to his master and murdered him with his newly mastered technique. Shortly after the death of Goutetsu, Akuma sought out his brother and battled him. Though Akuma was defeated, Gouken refused to kill him. Akuma saw his brother as a fool for not finishing him, and used the Shun Goku Satsu once again to end his brother's life.
While Akuma's actions create the impression that he is evil, he is far from it. He seeks only opponents that he deems strong enough to take his life in the ultimate battle.
