Additional Information

The leading authority in the world of robotics, Dr. Light was responsible for the creation of a variety of robots, including Protoman, Rock and Roll. However, former schoolmate Dr. Wily was able to reprogram a number of Dr. Light's creations, using them for the purpose of taking over the world. In response to this threat, one of Dr. Light's creations, Rock, volunteered to be converted in to a combat robot. From this point, Megaman was born, and Dr. Light did his best to provide Megaman with a number of upgrades, partners, and support equipment to help battle against Dr. Wily's evil ambitions.

Later on in his life, Dr. Light began work on developing a new robot. Unlike his previous creations, Dr. Light intended to bestow this robot with the ability to make their own choices in life. Dr. Light would eventually name this robot X, which represented a variable with infinite possibilities. However, Dr. Light realised that the world was not ready for such a being yet, and sealed X away for 30 years to undergo systems testing to ensure his reliability, knowing that he would not live to see the day that X would awaken, nor was there anybody who could continue with his work after he passed.

While hoping that X would use his free will to walk down the path of peace, Dr. Light was also concerned of the possibility of threats that may arise in the future. Believing that the world may need a new champion someday, he hid away a number of capsules containing armor and weapon upgrades that would allow X to increase his powers beyond anything the world had ever known. Furthermore, he left behind messages for X, giving him the encouragement to fight for what is right.

Despite being a scientist, Dr. Light is a humanitarian. He designed robots for the purposes of peace, and views his creations more as human beings as opposed to mere tools. Even in his dying days, Dr. Light sought to fulfill his dream of robots and humans peacefully coexisting, a dream which he hoped X would be able to accomplish long after he was gone.
