Additional Information

While developing the RX-104FF Penelope, Anaheim Electronics secretly developed the RX-105 Ξ (Xi) Gundam, supplying it to the Anti-Earth Federation Group, Mafty. Due to sharing very similar functions, the Xi Gundam and Penelope could be considered sister suits. Whereas the Penelope is the RX-104 Odysseus Gundam utilizing external equipment containing a minovsky flight unit to achieve flight under gravity, the Ξ Gundam has its minovsky flight system integrated in to the mobile suit itself, giving the Ξ a smaller silouhette than the Penelope, but still allowing it to fly unassisted for extended periods in atmosphere. Therefore, it could be considered an improved version of the Penelope, and a "true" fifth generation Mobile Suit.

In terms of weaponry, it is equipped with a beam rifle that has the power to easily destroy a Gustav Karl in one shot. It also has a pair of beam sabers mounted on the shoulders. Taking inspiration from the RX-93 Nu Gundam, the sabers can emit a second, shorter blade from the pommels. It also comes equipped with a shield that can withstand a direct shot from a beam rifle. In addition, a beam cannon is installed in the shield. Furthermore, within its elbows and knees are four sets of three-tube missle launchers, totalling twelve missiles. However, it's most unique weapons are its ten funnel missiles mounted on its rear skirt armor. While remote weaponry has seen use since the One Year War, they have never seen use under gravity until now. Thanks to the introduction of funnel missles, a Newtype pilot can use psycho waves to control and maneuver the missles in ways not possible with convential missles, and aren't affected by Minovsky particles.

Though the Ξ Gundam is already a formidable mobile suit with its arsenal, it also has a dedicated flight form. The shoulder armor rear stabilisers will swing up before it projects a conical beam barrier in front of itself, reducing drag to move at high speeds, allowing the Ξ to even reach Mach 2.

Despite visual differences between the Penelope and Ξ, they are functionally similar. As a result, any battle between these two Gundams will ultimately be decided by the capabilities of the pilots themselves.
