Review

The Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: The Original Motion Picture Soundtrack contains all the songs that were included in the film, plus a few extras. The songs really catch the feel of the late 80s/early 90s when it comes to music tastes.

I was pleasantly surprised that the soundtrack includes Shredder's Suite, which is an amalgamation of the various tracks used whenever the Shredder or the Foot appeared on screen. Also included is Splinter's Tale I and II, which has Splinter narrating the origins of himself, the Turtles and Master Yoshi. Turtle Rhapsody is based on the film's theme song, but it is not quite the same song used in the film, which is a shame, as that was a very upbeat and catchy tune, and I feel they should have included that version.

My one gripe with this soundtrack... well not so much the soundtrack itself, but the lyrics for Turtle Power where Partners in Kryme say that Raphael is the leader of the group. What? Everyone knows that Leonardo is the leader! Though despite that blunder, it still is a good track, and a good fit for the ending theme of the film.

Putting nostalgia aside, truthfully, I can only recommend this soundtrack if you enjoyed both the film and the music that was featured, or if you have a taste for late 80s/early 90s music. Otherwise, this is an easy pass.
Finding this CD was not easy, let alone a second hand copy. I was able to get a second hand copy for about 2500 yen.
