Additional Information The SVMS-01X Union Flag Custom II, also known as the GN Flag, is the hastily modified Union Flag Custom integrating a GN Drive Tau. The Drive was one of 30 supplied to the three world blocs by a traitor within Celestial Being. The GN Drive Tau used was taken from a GNX-603T GN-X mobile suit assigned to Graham Akher, with Billy Katagiri using his family connections to secure the Drive.
The GN Drive Tau is mounted on a swinging mechanism that switches between the back and left shoulder. In cruise mode, the GN Drive docks in the back, serving as the Flag's propulsion. When entering combat, the drive docks into the left shoulder, with GN particles supplied via power cable to its beam saber, its sole weapon, taken from Gundam Throne Eins. For defense, it's equipped with two leg-mounted defense rods. Unlike typical shields, these rods use rotary motions to deflect enemy fire and are light enough to not affect the Flag's mobility.
As the Flag Custom II wasn't originally designed for a GN drive, the forced integration affects its balance and performance, making it very difficult to control for all but the most skilled pilot. Consequently, the Flag's transformation to flight mode is no longer possible. Lastly, as the GN Drive Tau is an inferior copy of Celestial Being's GN Drives, its output is lower and has a limited operating time before it needs to return to base to recharge.
The SVMS-01X Union Flag Custom II was developed to fulfill Graham Aker's vow to his fallen wingman to defeat the Gundams with a Union Flag. It is also the manifestation of what started as love for Gundams, has now left the man with hatred for everything they took from him.
